Sonny Calvento is a Filipino director, writer, and producer. For 10 years, he worked as a screenwriter for ABS-CBN Corporation, the largest multimedia conglomerate in the Philippines. The company was recently shut down by the government. He now devotes himself to cinema. Reflecting the Filipino psyche in finding humor in tragedy, Sonny is interested in addressing the sometimes farcical nature of life in the Philippines. His first short film, EXCUSE ME, MISS, MISS, MISS (2021), premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
