The Search for Westvleteren
Charlie Ainsworth is a deaf American filmmaker. He founded Angry Deaf People Productions in response to the film industry’s tendency to undervalue Deaf Culture, Deafhood, and Deaf Talent. To date, he has made seven short films and won three awards. He currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he became one of only two deaf people in the United States to earn a master’s degree in screenwriting. Ainsworth is a strong advocate and supporter of Deaf cinema as a representation of the deaf experience of reality.
