Sofía Brockenshire

Sofía Brockenshire is an Argentine-Canadian filmmaker. She studied Film Directing in Argentina (Universidad del Cine), and received her MFA in Film and Video at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA. Using cinema as mode for excavation and searching, her films explore buried histories, the politics of location, and the flow of transient lives. Her work has been selected and awarded at various international film festivals, including the Venice IFF, DOKLeipzig, and BAFICI, among others. Her first feature documentary, The Dependents, won the National Grand Prize at RIDM in 2022. She is Assistant Professor at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University in Montréal, Canada.
