Pianeta Mare Film Residency

A special edition of Lago Film Residency is born in collaboration with Pianeta Mare Film Festival, bringing together cinema, environmental awareness and artistic research through a program dedicated to emerging filmmakers interested in exploring the relationship between human beings, water, the sea and climate change.

The Pianeta Mare Film Festival — an international film festival created for the 150th anniversary of the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn — selects some of the best films from around the world with the mission of inspiring audiences to become active participants in positive practices for the protection of water, the sea and nature, promoting a vision based on sustainability and the peaceful coexistence of species.

From this shared vision comes the Pianeta Mare Film Lab, a widespread and participatory workshop led by filmmaker Valerio Ferrara, inviting young talents to create short films focused on the local territory hosting the lab and on the deep connection between communities, the sea, water and contemporary environmental transformations.

The lab becomes a space for education, experimentation and research, fostering new cinematic languages and practices thanks to the support of Regione Campania Film Commission, the Rappresentanza in Italia della Commissione europea, universities, leading public research institutions, cultural organizations, international festivals and youth communities.

The author of the best short film created during the lab will be awarded a special residency within Lago Film Residency, becoming part of the creative ecosystem of Lago Film Fest, where cinematic research, artistic experimentation and the relationship with the territory come together.
